Brigid's octomino chain mesh

A non-periodic square tiling based on a pair of related motifs in a chiral star arrangement. I would expect the closed loops (colored) would have the same 4-fold rotational symmetry. They are chiral, but they only have a 2-fold rotational symmetry.

The motifs are composed of four chiral spline segments, suggested by a Ted Bell sketch.
