Bugits (Orthologia trispiralis)

"Why has not man a microscopic eye?
For this plain reason, man is not a fly
Say what the use, were finer optics giv’n,
T’ inspect a mite, not comprehend the heav’n?"

Alexander Pope, Essay on Man

It is a wonderful thing that we can inspect a mite and comprehend the heaven, concurrently in some ways. Still, we are trapped at our particular range of scales.

An example of the Droste effect, but with alternating positive and negative images.

About the geometry of bugits.

Great looking animation.
Amazing. I'm dizzy now.
As the still frames loaded, I didn't notice many of the lines lay on the same spiral path. Only later did that dawn on me.
The whole thing rotates but the 4 thin spiral arms remain vertical and the two fat ones remain horizontal. I am still scratching my head.
